JGM News Fall 2026
Phillip the evangelist, in Acts 8:30-31, asked the Ethiopian eunuch, who was reading from the book of Isaiah while sitting in his chariot, if he understood what he was reading. In verse 31, the eunuch replied, “How can I, except some man should guide me?” He then invited Philip to come up and sit with him. As you continue reading the chapter, Philip answered his questions, and the Scripture says that he preached unto him Jesus. Notice that he did not preach religion or philosophy to him, because the one thing every human being on this planet needs is Jesus. I heard of a man who said he went to heaven and returned. He shared that the focus in heaven is on Jesus, so our focus on earth should be on Jesus as well. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we walk in peace and joy. In fact, verse 39 tells us that the eunuch went on his way rejoicing.
This story reminds me of so many of the FFA students and others we encountered at FFA state conventions and farm shows this past year who were searching for answers about life and eternity. Like Philip, my main job is to point people to Jesus and help them understand how to live the Christian life through God’s Word as they journey toward heaven.
Like the Ethiopian eunuch, we have seen people time and time again leave our tents and booths rejoicing because they finally received biblical answers they could not find anywhere else. One student in North Carolina opened up to me and shared that he was trying to live the Christian life but was struggling. The Bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Romans 10:2 also speaks of people having a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. I was able to present the truth from God’s Word with that young man, and he left rejoicing because the truth had set him free.
In August, at Dakota Fest in Mitchell, South Dakota, I met a family from Minnesota who attended church regularly but, unfortunately, had never been taught how to be saved. I had the privilege of leading the family in a prayer of salvation to receive Christ. These are just a few examples of many divine encounters where we were able to minister to people and watch their entire countenance change as they received the truth.
One girl at the Washington FFA State Convention told us she had been having a difficult week and that our ministry to her had really helped. Another young man I recently ministered to shared that he had reached a low point in his life the night before. Once again, the Word of God brought him hope, encouragement, and joy.
Please pray that these kinds of encounters will continue as we minister at the Northern Navajo Nation Fair in Shiprock, New Mexico, and at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October. In November, I will be leading an evangelism team to Jamaica through Fellowship of Christian Farmers International. We will be ministering on the streets and going door to door, working alongside local churches and holding evening meetings to teach the Word of God.
Thank you for your prayers and faithful support, which make all of this possible.
